PROMETHEUS LAB

"They call him, “The Modern Prometheus”. They say he’s trying to create the perfect organism, trying to find the ‘Ascendency Strain’. He’s splicing together different parts, from different creatures, like a fucked up Pick ’n’ Mix… and guess who’s next…

I’d say you’re fucked, mate!"

‘Prometheus Lab’ is a narrative-driven, art-focussed project powered by Props – the team behind all your favourite PFP projects!

Not just another generative project, Prometheus Lab puts creation in the hands of the collector, allowing you to swap out sections of your ‘Abomination’ through a re-roll feature

DO NARWHALS DREAM OF ELECTRIC TEA?

"Another thing that got forgotten was the fact that, against all probability, a narwhal had suddenly been called into existence, in a rather peculiar location for a narwhal.

And since this is not a naturally tenable position for a narwhal, this poor innocent creature had very little time to come to terms with its identity as a narwhal before it then had to come to terms with not being a narwhal anymore..."

‘Do Narwhals Dream...’ is a generative art project with the usual ‘Waxbones’ twist, powered by Props.

MASKVERSE (The Masked Singer / FOX)

In 2023, I was contacted by Blockchain Labs and FOX to create the artwork for The Masked Singer and their foray into web3.

Working closely with the team in complete secrecy, I developed the artwork and visuals for Maskverse, including 21 character illustrations, upgradable backgrounds and upgrade items that could be purchased through points, earned by participating in weekly voting.

Hi, I’m Cal, aka Waxbones, an illustrator and graphic designer based in Bristol, UK. After spending a decade designing wayfinding systems for cities all over the world, in 2021 I made the leap to pursue my art full-time, creating numerous sell-out NFT collections, editions, 1/1s and an innovative narrative-focussed project called Prometheus Lab, as well as collaborating with some of the biggest names in the scene.

My style juxtaposes the whimsical with the macabre, taking inspiration from struggles with mental health, sci-fi and horror, hardcore music, and tattoo culture.

My work has been exhibited all over the world and even sent to the International Space Station, and I have recently worked with commercial clients integrating web3 elements - The Masked Singer (Fox), Barbie (Mattel) and eBay.
